Terms of Service for Formidably Mobile.

1. Agreement to Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a legally binding agreement between you and Formidably Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 15228227 and trading as Formidably Mobile, governing your use of the Formidably Mobile application ("the App"). Our registered address is Unit A Crescent Trade Park, Redditch B98 9DZ. By downloading or using the App you agree to these Terms.

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. If you are setting up the App for a child, you confirm that you are the child's parent or legal guardian and accept responsibility for their use of the App.

2. What the App Does

Formidably Mobile is a distraction-free Android launcher application. It replaces the standard Android home screen to support intentional technology use. It connects to the formidably.life household service to provide access to shared features including tasks, meals, habits, family messaging, and location sharing.

Formidably Mobile is not a parental control or device surveillance tool. It does not monitor or transmit the content of messages, browsing activity, or any data from third-party apps.

3. App Pricing and Licence

3.1 Consumer Use

Formidably Mobile is available at GBP 49 per year as a standalone licence. If you are an active formidably.life household subscriber, Formidably Mobile access is included within your household subscription at no additional cost.

3.2 School and Enterprise Licensing

Schools and enterprises are licensed on separate terms. Contact us at contact form for pricing and Data Processing Agreements.

3.3 Licence Scope

We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the App on Android devices you own or control, for personal or household use in accordance with these Terms. You may not resell, sublicense, or distribute the App.

4. Android Permissions

The App requests certain Android permissions to function. These are described in full in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. By using the App you confirm that you have read and understood the Privacy Policy and consent to the permissions described.

Key permissions and their purpose:

  • Location: for household location sharing, controlled by the household administrator.
  • QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES and PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS: for the app launcher display and foreground app detection for blocking only.
  • VPN Service: for local on-device app blocking only. No traffic is routed to external servers.
  • Device Administrator: for persistent launcher and school managed device support.

5. App Blocking Feature

Formidably Mobile can restrict access to apps you or the household administrator designates. This blocking operates via a local VPN interface on the device. You acknowledge that:

  • App blocking affects the device on which the App is installed.
  • The household administrator has authority to configure blocking for household members' devices.
  • We are not liable for any loss, inconvenience, or harm arising from app blocking configuration.
  • Emergency services and critical system functions are never blocked.

6. Device Administrator Capability

If you enable Formidably Mobile as a Device Administrator, you grant the App the ability to enforce launcher persistence on your device. This capability:

  • Does not allow Formidably Ltd to remotely access, wipe, or monitor your device.
  • Operates only as a local enforcement mechanism.
  • Can be removed at any time via Android Settings > Security > Device Admin Apps.

In managed school deployments (Device Owner or Profile Owner mode), the school is responsible for the device administration policy. Formidably Ltd provides the technical platform only.

7. Household Features

When the App is connected to a formidably.life household subscription, the formidably.life Terms of Service also apply to the household features you access through the App.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the App.
  • Circumvent or disable the app-blocking or Device Administrator features in a manner designed to harm other household members' experience.
  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other users' data.

9. Updates and Changes

We will release updates to the App periodically. Some updates may require new permissions; we will explain the reason for any new permission request in the update notes. You do not have to update the App, but older versions may lose access to current features or cease to function correctly.

10. Samsung Galaxy Store

If you downloaded the App from the Samsung Galaxy Store, your download and payment are also subject to Samsung's Developer Distribution Agreement and Galaxy Store terms. Formidably Ltd is the developer and publisher of the App; Samsung is the distributor only.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by UK law, our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, data loss beyond our backup obligations, or losses arising from circumstances outside our reasonable control.

Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

12. Termination

Your licence to use the App continues until terminated. We may terminate your licence if you breach these Terms. You may stop using the App at any time. On termination, provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive (including intellectual property, liability limitations, and governing law) will continue to apply.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
